Our History

Hayward Company was incorporated in March of 1915. Since that time, the employees of Hayward have shared a commitment to excellence and quality in serving the HVAC/sheet metal construction needs of greater Chicagoland.

Hayward flourished under the pioneering leadership of our founder, Mr. Ralph B. Hayward for 22 years until his death in 1937. His successor, William A. Kuechenberg, continuing Mr. Hayward’s policies of honesty and top shelf craftsmanship, led our company to become the premier Chicagoland sheet metal contractor. From 1987 to date, Hayward has been under the dependable ownership of Robert W. Kuechenberg. His character and guidance perpetuate our company’s tradition of excellence and integrity.

It has been Hayward’s privilege to fabricate and install the ventilation and air duct systems in some of Chicagoland’s most distinctive buildings. We installed the original HVAC system for the Merchandise Mart, John Hancock Center, Prudential Plaza I, and Illinois Centers to name a few. Hayward is also proud to have been the sheet metal contractor for Marshall Field’s State Street 1987 –1992 renovation project. This was the largest store renovation in United States retail history.

Over decades, our high quality work has earned us the trust of many of the country’s leading corporations, facilities, and institutions. It is not by accident that Hayward Company continues to be one of the most respected names in the HVAC/sheet metal industry.
